Edukasi ‘Tokuni’ (Tanaman Obat Keluarga Usia Dini) di SD Muhammadiyah Tonggalan, Klaten, Jawa Tengah

Mitra kegiatan pengabdian adalah SD Muhammadiyah Tonggalan, Klaten, Jawa Tengah.SD Tonggolan yang memiliki pekarangan yang luas yang belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal sehingga berpotensi dijadikan sasaran mitra untuk menambah jenis kegiatan berbasis pembelajaran berbasis lingkungan seperti pengenalan dan penanaman TOGA (Tanaman Obat Keluarga) sebagai sarana edukasi. Oleh karena itu tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah melaksanakan Edukasi Tokuni (Tanaman Obat Keluarga Usia Dini) di SD Muhammadiyah Tonggalan, Klaten, Jawa Tengah. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan oleh mahasiswa dari Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (FKIP) Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta -. Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan dalam tiga fase yaitu sosialisasi terkait TOGA, penanaman TOGA, serta pembinaan dan pengawasan. Peningkatan pengetahuan siswa terkait toga dilakukan dengan memberikan pre test dan post test. Kegiatan dilakukan selama 2 hari yaitu pada tanggal 15-16 Februari 2023. Kegiatan diikuti oleh 23 siswa kelas IV. Terdapat 9 jenis tanaman obat yang ditanam yaitu jahe, lengkuas, kunyit, lidah buaya, kencur, seledri, bawang merah, kumis kucing, dan serai. Siswa menanam tanaman TOGA pada wadah bekas yang dimanfaatkan dan dihias untuk memunculkan kreatifitas dan minat siswa. Kegiatan ini meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa terkait jenis-jenis tanaman obat sebesar rata-rata 30.32% dan manfaat tanaman obat sebesar rata-rata 15%. Dengan demikian, maka pengabdian masyarakat dapat memberikan wawasan baru kepada siswa untuk dapat mengenal tanaman obat bermanfaat dan memunculkan inisiatif untuk memanfaatkan bahan anorganik bekas sehingga yang memiliki nilai manfaat lebih.
‘Tokuni’ (Early Age Family Medicinal Plants) Education at SD Muhammadiyah Tonggalan, Klaten, Central Java
SD Muhammadiyah Tonggalan, located in Klaten, Central Java, is the community service's partner. SD Tonggolan has an extensive lawn that has not been utilized optimally, so it has the potential to become a target for partners to add environment-based learning activities, such as the introduction and cultivation of TOGA (Family Medicinal Plants) as a means of education. Consequently, the purpose of this service is to implement Tokuni Education (Early Age Family Medicinal Plants) at SD Muhammadiyah Tonggalan, Klaten, Central Java. The aforementioned activity was conducted by students hailing from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The service activities consist of three phases: TOGA-related socialization, TOGA planting, and mentoring and supervision. The event lasted two days, on February 15 and 16, 2023. Twenty-three students in fourth grade attended the event. Plantings include ginger, galangal, turmeric, aloe vera, kencur, celery, scallions, cat's whiskers, and lemongrass. Students plant TOGA plants in repurposed and decorated containers to foster their creativity and interest. This practice has been observed to enhance students' understanding of various types of medical plants by an average of 30.32%, as well as their comprehension of the advantages associated with medicinal plants by an average of 15%. Hence, this community service can provide students with new perspectives on identifying useful medicinal plants and inspire initiatives to make better use of discarded inorganic materials.
