Ketahanan Pangan, Lahan GambutAbstract
Strengthening Food Security Through A Non-Burn Farming System in Tanjung Leban Village Bandar Laksamana Sub-District Bengkalis Regency
The purpose of the service is to strengthen food security through the utilization of peatlands without burning. The service method is Participatory Rurral Appraisal by involving four target groups or partners including the Tanjung Leban Village Government, women's groups, village economic institutions (BUMDes) and involving students from various disciplines. The activity began by introducing the potential of peatlands for food crops using the no-burn method, which has not been implemented optimally so far. This service uses a demonstration plot system as a pilot land planted with corn, water spinach and medicinal plants. The plants were cared for together in turn and monitoring was carried out for several days. The monitoring results showed good growth with the addition of compost. The plants can be harvested and utilized for household needs even though in small quantities. This success shows that the no-burn agriculture system has the potential to be developed on a wide scale for food commodities with the support of various parties. This is because the practice of no-burn agriculture requires considerable costs from the preparation stage to planting and maintenance
