Empowerment of the Sumber Makmur Sejahtera Cooperative through the Diversification of Sacha Inchi-Based Products as Superior Products in Binangun Village
Abstract
The Sumber Makmur Sejahtera Cooperative in Binangun Village, Bantarsari District, has great potential in developing superior products based on local resources. One of the plants that has high economic value and health benefits is Sacha Inchi (Plukenetia volubilis), which is known as a quality vegetable oil-producing plant with a content of omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9 fatty acids. The main problems faced by cooperative partners are limited knowledge in product diversification, post-harvest processing strategies, and traditional marketing. To answer these challenges, this community service program aims to increase the capacity of cooperatives through training on diversification of Sacha Inchi-based products, including the manufacture of healthy oils, herbal tea leaves, and processed functional foods. The method of implementing activities is carried out through counseling, processing technical training, business management assistance, and strengthening branding and digital marketing. The results of the activity showed an increase in the skills of cooperative members in processing Sacha Inchi into value-added products, an increase in understanding of marketing strategies, and the formation of a plan to develop village superior products. Quantitatively, this activity increased the knowledge of cooperative members by 25-30 points after the training, which can be seen from the results of the pre-test and post-test. The conclusion of this activity is that cooperative empowerment through the diversification of Sacha Inchi products is able to increase local economic value, strengthen business independence, and open up opportunities for Binangun Village to have superior competitive products. The sustainability of the program is expected to encourage cooperatives to become the driving force of the village economy based on local product innovation.
