Abstract

Application of Post-Harvest Technology of Local Flowers to Improve Farmers' Welfare in Jingah Habang Ilir Village, Banjar Regency

 Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the capacity of flower farmers in Jingah Habang Ilir Village, Banjar Regency, through the diversification of local flower-based products (jasmine, rose, and kenanga) into value-added non-food products. The novelty of the program lies in the integration of post-harvest technology, product diversification (bath bombs, bath salts, solid soap, natural scrubs, and ecoprint), and strengthening digital marketing and branding within a technology transfer-based empowerment model involving students. The implementation methods included socialization, training, mentoring, and evaluation. The results indicated a moderate increase in participants' knowledge and skills based on n-gain analysis, with the highest improvement observed in the natural scrub training (63.93%), followed by soap production (53.37%) and digital marketing training (46.78%). The program also supports the achievement of MBKM and university Key Performance Indicators (IKU) through student involvement in community empowerment. Overall, the program effectively enhanced participants' technical and marketing capacities, as evidenced by the establishment of active e-commerce accounts and market-ready products as early indicators of entrepreneurial readiness, although the long-term impact on income and welfare requires further monitoring.
