Digitalization and Preservation of the Cultural History of Ketangga Village, East Lombok Regency

Abstract

Ketangga Village, located in Suela District, East Lombok Regency, is home to various historical and cultural relics linked to the legacy of the Selaparang Kingdom. Sites such as the Masjid Pusaka (Heritage Mosque), Gedeng Raja Selaparang (King's Pavilion), and the tombs of Mamiq Raja, Prabu Rengkasari, Tuan Lebe, and the Anak Raja (Royal Child), as well as the Tapak Kaki Kuda Raja (King's Horse Footprint), hold significant historical value. However, much of the information regarding these sites has been passed down primarily through oral tradition and lacks optimal documentation. This initiative aimed to document and preserve the cultural history of Ketangga Village using digital media and by providing informational signage at the historical sites. The methodology employed included a needs assessment, field observations, interviews with community leaders, photo and video documentation, and the installation of information boards. The project successfully documented five historical sites into 5 digital videos published on YouTube. Additionally, 3 information boards were installed at the tombs of Mamiq Raja, Prabu Rengkasari, and Tuan Lebe to serve as educational resources for the local community and visitors. This activity contributes to the preservation of local cultural history, improves access to historical information, and supports the development of cultural tourism potential in Ketangga Village.
