Bullying Prevention Education through Participatory Outreach for Students at SDN 1 Lalonggopi
Abstract
Bullying among elementary school students can disrupt their well-being, social relationships, and sense of safety in the learning environment, highlighting the need for early preventive education. This community service program aimed to provide and evaluate students' basic understanding of bullying at SDN 1 Lalonggopi following education on its definition, forms, impacts, help-seeking actions, and prevention strategies. The program was conducted on July 29, 2026, involving 36 students from grades IV, V, and VI through a participatory educational approach comprising material presentation, discussion, question-and-answer sessions, and reflection activities. A descriptive post-activity evaluation was conducted using a seven-item true/false questionnaire, interviews with one student representative, one teacher, and the school principal, as well as activity documentation. The evaluation revealed 232 correct answers out of 252 responses, representing an aggregate proportion of correct answers of 92.06% in the post-activity assessment. Correct-response percentages across the seven indicators ranged from 88.89% to 97.22%, with the highest percentage observed in identifying physical bullying. Interviews indicated positive responses from informants regarding the implementation and relevance of the program. These findings describe students' mastery of the assessed material and support the relevance of the activity as an initial educational practice in the school context. However, the results cannot establish improvements in knowledge, changes in awareness, or behavioral changes because the evaluation relied on a limited post-activity instrument without baseline or follow-up measurements.
