This study aims to explore the role of family communication in shaping adolescent identity in the digital era, with a particular focus on adolescents in Yogyakarta, a city renowned for its educational and cultural environment. Amid the constant flow of digital information, pressures from social media, peer influence, and family expectations, adolescents require strong and healthy communication foundations within their families. Effective family communication plays a vital role in shaping adolescents' values, attitudes, and perceptions of themselves and their surroundings. This research employs a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews with adolescents aged 15–18 and their parents as the main informants. Data were analyzed using the interactive model developed by Miles and Huberman, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings of this study are expected to provide deep insights into the family communication patterns that most significantly influence identity formation among adolescents in the digital age. These findings may serve as valuable references for parents, educators, and practitioners in fostering adaptive and supportive family communication. In addition to its practical contributions, this research also enriches academic literature on the relationship between family communication and adolescent identity development in the modern era.
