This study aims to analyze the effect of the decision to pursue higher education on career development and social life among Generation Z in Garut Regency. The research is motivated by the low participation rate in higher education in Indonesia, particularly in West Java, and the lack of empirical studies examining the direct impact of continuing education on career and social aspects of young generations at the regional level. The study employs a quantitative approach with descriptive and associative methods. The population consists of Generation Z in Garut, with 225 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS 4 software. The results reveal that the decision to pursue higher education has a positive and significant effect on career (R² = 0.468; p < 0.05) and social life (R² = 0.403; p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the higher the tendency of Generation Z to continue their education to university, the better their career development and social quality. The study concludes that higher education serves as a strategic investment that provides dual benefits: improving economic aspects through career opportunities and enriching social capital. The practical implications highlight the need for local governments, educational institutions, and universities to expand access, support systems, and partnerships with industry to maximize the benefits of higher education for Generation Z.
