Pembelajaran matematika di sekolah masih sering menekankan hafalan rumus dan prosedur sehingga kemampuan pemahaman konsep serta berpikir kritis siswa belum optimal, terutama pada materi barisan dan deret aritmatika yang menuntut pemahaman pola, hubungan antarsuku, dan penerapan konsep dalam masalah kontekstual. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui efektivitas Pendekatan Matematika Realistik (PMR) terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi barisan dan deret aritmatika di kelas X SMK Negeri 2 Medan Tahun Ajaran 2025/2026. Penelitian kuasi-eksperimen ini menggunakan desain posttest-only control group design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas X yang terdiri atas 21 kelas. Sampel dipilih secara acak sederhana dan diperoleh kelas eksperimen (n=30) yang dibelajarkan dengan PMR serta kelas kontrol (n=30) yang dibelajarkan secara konvensional. Instrumen berupa tes uraian yang telah divalidasi ahli dan diuji coba. Analisis data meliputi uji normalitas Liliefors, uji homogenitas varians, dan uji-t pada taraf signifikansi 5%. Hasil menunjukkan data kedua kelompok berdistribusi normal dan homogen. Rata-rata pemahaman konsep kelas eksperimen 71,13 dan kelas kontrol 54,47; rata-rata berpikir kritis kelas eksperimen 72,63 dan kelas kontrol 59,47. Uji-t menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan pada pemahaman konsep, t(58)=7,06, p<0,001, d=1,82, dan berpikir kritis, t(58)=4,94, p<0,001, d=1,28. Ketuntasan klasikal kelas eksperimen mencapai 86,67% untuk pemahaman konsep dan 83,33% untuk berpikir kritis. Skor observasi kesesuaian pembelajaran 4,52 dan alokasi waktu 4,50, keduanya kategori “Sangat Baik”. Dengan demikian, PMR efektif meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep dan berpikir kritis siswa.
