Parents’ Perceptions of the School’s Role in Supporting Early Childhood Sports Talent
Abstract
The development of early childhood sports talent requires support from both schools and parents; however, TK Al-Hikmah still faces limited facilities, limited sports activities, and no specialized physical education teacher. This study aimed to describe parents’ perceptions of the school environment’s role in supporting early childhood sports talent development. A descriptive quantitative survey design was used. The sample consisted of 30 parents selected through purposive sampling. The instrument was a 40-item Likert-scale questionnaire covering perception, school environment, and sports talent aspects. Data were analyzed using means, frequencies, percentages, and categories. The results showed a mean score of 146.30 or 73.15%, with 70% of respondents in the high category and 30% in the sufficient category. The sports talent development aspect received the highest rating, with 84% in the high category. The study concludes that parents’ perceptions are positive, but school support is not yet fully optimal.
