Strategi pembentukan karakter peduli lingkungan pelajar SMP Sei Glugur melalui edukasi konservasi dan wisata Yayasan Ekosistem Lestari di Orangutan Haven

Abstract

Kemajuan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi sangat memberikan dampak terhadap karakter manusia. Bukan hanya dampak positif tetapi juga dampak negative seperti budaya sopan santun dan rasa peduli lingkungan yang kurang akibat sifat individualisme dan ketidakpedulian terhadap orang lain dan lingkungan, sehingga dilakukan kegiatan meningkatkan karakter peduli lingkungan terhadap pelajar sekolah menengah pertama Sei Glugur melalui edukasi konservasi dan wisata bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi dan juga penanaman karakter peduli lingkungan terhadapat pelajar melalui kegiatan yang dilakukan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan oleh Yayasan Ekosistem Lestari dan kontribusi mahasiswa Universitan Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara, Fakultas Sains dan Teknologi, Program Studi Biologi terhadap 34 pelajar SMP Sei Glugur di Orangutan Haven, Kecamatan Pancur Batu, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Sumatera Utara. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dengan cara metode edukasi konservasi berupa kegiatan lapangan yang terdiri atas eco trail, animal walare, eco farming dan pohon komitmen. Dari hasil kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat terdapat 44,1 % pelajar mengalami peningkatan nilai tentang edukasi dan konservasi. Dari pengabdian masyarakat ini diharapkan pelajar SMP Sei Glugur lebih peduli lingkungan lagi dalam kehidupan sehari hari.

Advances in science and technology have had a huge impact on human character. Not just positive impacts but also negative impacts such as a culture of courtesy and a sense of environmental care that is lacking due to individualism and indifference to others and the environment. So that activities to increase the character of environmentally friendly to Sei Glugur junior high school students through conservation and tourism education aim to provide education and also instill the character of environmental care to students through the activities carried out. This social activity was carried out by Yayasan Ekosistem Lestari and the contribution from college student of Universitan Islam Negeri North Sumatra, Faculty of Science and Technology, Biology Study Program to 34 Sei Glugur junior high school students at Orangutan Haven, Pancur Batu District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra. This community service activity uses the conservation education method in the form of field activities consisting of eco trail, animal ware, eco farming and commitment tree. From the results of community service activities, 44.1% of students experienced an increase in values about education and conservation. From this community service, it is hoped that Sei Glugur Junior High School students will care more about the environment in their daily lives.
