Optimizing the Independent Curriculum through Teacher Training Assistance to Implement AI Technology in the Development of Learning Media
This study aims to enhance teacher competence in integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology into the Independent Curriculum through focused training. Utilizing a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, the program engaged 26 science teachers from Pasuruan, Indonesia, in a structured AI-based workshop using PowerPoint as a teaching tool. The training phases included preparation, direct training with hands-on activities, and post-training evaluation to ensure skill transfer and application. The results of the program showed significant improvements, with knowledge scores on AI features rising from 46.8% to 61.5% for core functions and from 59.6% to 73.1% for animation transitions. Feedback highlighted the need for extended training duration and ongoing face-to-face sessions to optimize understanding. This study recommends sustained, periodic training, especially incorporating practical and mentor-supported sessions, to strengthen AI competencies and bridge technology access gaps in rural educational settings
