Education and Demonstration of Corn Stalk Utilization as Biomass Briquettes in Jatisela Village
Corn stalks are post-harvest residues with potential use as feedstock for biomass briquettes. In Ireng Lauq Hamlet, Jatisela Village, the Rahayu Farmers Group faces limited production equipment and needs further understanding of the processing stages. This community service activity aimed to reinforce participants’ knowledge of corn stalk utilization and provide practical exposure through education and demonstration. Conducted on 17–21 September 2026, the activities included observation, a pre-test, outreach, a supervised demonstration, participation in safe activities, discussion, a post-test, and evaluation. Descriptive analysis was based on 13 complete paired pre-test and post-test records with a maximum score of 25. The mean score increased from 22.54 to 23.62; the mean score as a percentage of the maximum possible score rose from 90.15% to 94.46%, an increase of 4.31 percentage points. Nine participants improved and four obtained unchanged scores. Participants gained practical exposure to the general stages of corn stalk utilization. These findings indicate a short-term improvement in assessed knowledge, but do not establish measurable skill gains, product quality, financial viability, or environmental benefits.
