Application of the CPS (Creative Problem Solving) Learning Model Assisted by Video Media to Improve Problem Solving Ability in Class XI IPS 1 Students at SMAN 1 Batukliang Utara
Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a teaching technique that employs creative problem solving through the CPS (Creative Problem Solving) strategy, supported by video-based learning media, in enhancing students’ problem-solving skills in class XI IPS 1 at SMAN 1 Batukliang Utara in the sociology subject. This research applies a classroom action research (CAR) approach conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of two meetings. The data collection techniques used include planning, implementation, observation, and documentation stages. The findings of the study indicate that CPS using video is effective in optimizing students’ ability to solve problems. In the first cycle, the implementation of learning using the CPS strategy reached 81.5%, increasing to 96% in the second cycle. Meanwhile, students' problem-solving skills also improved, from 70% in the first cycle to 88% in the second cycle. The data show a noticeable increase in student engagement and problem-solving abilities. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of the CPS (Creative Problem Solving) method combined with video media is effective in optimizing students' problem-solving skills in sociology.
