Math Adventure, a Mobile-Based Educational Game for Interactive Learning
Abstract
The development of technology in the field of education has opened up new opportunities in creating more interesting and interactive learning methods. One method that can be applied is the use of mobile-based educational games as a learning aid. But so far there are still very few educational games with an adventure concept. This study aims to develop an educational game titled Math Adventure which is designed to help children understand mathematical concepts in a more enjoyable and interactive way. This game was developed using the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) method, which consists of six stages, namely concept, design, material collection, creation, testing, and distribution. In Math Adventure, players will complete various challenges presented in an interesting adventure environment. This game is also equipped with adaptive features that adjust the level of difficulty of the questions based on the player's ability, as well as a feedback system that provides explanations for the answers chosen. The results of the usability test showed an average score of 80.56%, where in the learnability aspect 70.6%, efficiency 79.3%, memorability 89.3%, errors 76.6%, and satisfaction 87%. The results of the implementation test with pretest and posttest showed a significant increase in children's numeracy skills, namely 23.86% after playing the Math Adventure game. These findings demonstrate the potential of educational games as an effective technology-based approach in early childhood mathematics education.
