Penelitian "Komunikasi Ritual pada Prosesi Adat Memarek sebagai bentuk adopsi budaya bali di kabupaten lombok utara" memiliki sasaran untuk meneliti makna dari komunikasi ritual serta simbol yang ada di dalam tradisi Memarek yang merupakan bentuk dari salah satu akulturasi budaya bali yaitu ritual metatah. Ritual ini dilakukan untuk mengungkapkan rasa syukur, doa untuk keselamatan, dan permohonan berkah terkhusus bagi anak perempuan yang akan menginjak dewasa. Walaupun terdapat perbedaan kepercayaan di kalangan masyarakat namun tradisi ini dapat bertahan hingga saat ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teori interaksi simbolik untuk memahami makna dari simbol dan interaksi sosial dalam setiap tahapan proses ritual yang dilaksanakan. Pengumpulan data yang dilakukan dengan melalui wawancara mendalam dan diskusi kelompok (FGD) dengan mengundang beberapa tokoh adat, masyarakat dan beberapa pihak yang terlibat dalam tradisi terkait di Desa Tegal maja, Dusun Leong Timur, Kabupaten Lombok Utara. Selain itu untuk menganalisis data digunakan metode Miles dan Huberman yang terdiri atas reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu (1) Terdapat proses adopsi budaya pada prosesi tradisi mengasah gigi yang merupakan salah satu rangkaian tradisi memarek. Tradisi mengasah gigi sangat lekat dengan budaya bali yaitu (2) Adopsi budaya yang terjadi dianalisis menggunakan teori akulturasi budaya dan teridentifikasi dengan strategi integrasi budaya. (3) Komunikasi ritual pada proses integrasi budaya, terdapat 3 hal yang menjadi perhatian penelitian yaitu (a) persilangan unsur budaya (tradisi dan ritual), (b) proses ritual, (C) proses interaksi.
Ritual Communication in the Memarek Traditional Procession as a Form of Balinese Cultural Adoption in North Lombok Regency
Abstract
The research "Ritual Communication in the Memarek Traditional Procession as a form of Balinese cultural adoption in North Lombok Regency" aims to examine the meaning of ritual communication and symbols in the Memarek tradition, which is a form of Balinese cultural acculturation, namely the metatah ritual. This ritual is carried out to express gratitude, prayers for safety, and requests for blessings, especially for girls who are about to reach adulthood. Although there are differences in beliefs among the community, this tradition can survive until now. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach method with symbolic interaction theory to understand the meaning of symbols and social interactions in each stage of the ritual process carried out. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions (FGD) by inviting several traditional leaders, the community and several parties involved in related traditions in Tegal Maja Village, Leong timur Hamlet, North Lombok Regency. In addition, to analyze the data, the Miles and Huberman method was used, consisting of reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are (1) There is a process of cultural adoption in the tooth sharpening tradition procession which is one of the series of the marek tradition. The tradition of sharpening teeth is closely linked to Balinese culture, namely (2) The cultural adoption that occurs is analyzed using the theory of cultural acculturation and identified with cultural integration strategies. (3) Ritual communication in the cultural integration process, there are 3 things that are the focus of research, namely (a) the intersection of cultural elements (tradition and ritual), (b) the ritual process, (c) the interaction process.
