Abstract

The Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools by Teachers in Encouraging Student Learning Motivation at State Senior High School 2 Narmada

Abstract

Along with the development of technology in education, teachers are required to be able to adapt. This study was conducted in response to the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in the field of education and the need for teachers to innovate learning to encourage student learning motivation. This type of research is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The results of the study indicate that the use of AI by teachers is quite effective in encouraging student learning motivation. Teachers utilize applications such as ChatGPT, Gamma AI, and Quizziz to compile teaching materials, create learning media, and conduct evaluations. The results of the use of AI encourage active student participation, seen from their involvement in the learning process and interactions in the classroom. The use of AI also has a positive impact on student learning motivation. From the results of interviews, 82% of students and teachers who were the subjects of the study felt a positive impact from the use of AI. This finding is reinforced by the results of observations in class XI which showed students tended to be more active during learning activities involving AI. For students, AI makes the learning atmosphere more interesting and varied, thus impacting motivation to learn. Supporting factors for the use of AI include teacher readiness to adapt to technology, the availability of personal devices, and computer laboratory facilities. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include limited digital literacy training, a lack of LCDs, and unstable internet connections. Overall, teachers' use of AI has proven effective in creating more interactive, efficient, and enjoyable learning, as well as positively contributing to boosting student learning motivation.
