Eksplorasi Visual Motif Jamu Tradisional dalam Pengembangan Desain Batik Kontemporer

Jamu tradisional merupakan salah satu warisan budaya berbasis lokal yang patut untuk dilestarikan. Tradisi meracik jamu sudah menjadi kebiasaan masyarakat secara turun temurun dari nenek moyang. Bahan dari meracik jamu menggunakan bahan-bahan alami yang mudah ditemukan dilingkungan sekitar tempat tinggal. Selain digunakan sebagai bahan membuat masakan juga memiliki khasiat untuk kesehatan yaitu untuk mengobati berbagai penyakit, meningkatkan nafsu makan, menjaga imuntubuh atau hanya menjaga kebugaran tubuh. Ternyata sampai sekarang masih kurangnya pengetahuan masyarakat terhadap bahan baku jamu beserta manfaatnya dan masih belum bisa membedakan setiap bahan jamu yang digunakan sehingga muncullah ide untuk memvisualisasikan bahan-bahan tersebut menjadi motif batik kontemporer. Selain untuk menambah koleksi dari motif batik, diharapkan dapat memperkenalkan bahan-bahan jamu beserta manfaatnya kepada masyarakat terutaman untuk generasi muda melalui motif batik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode penciptaan kriya yaitu tahap eksplorasi, perancangan dan perwujudan. Tahap eksplorasi yaitu pengumpulan data melalui observasi, studi pustaka dan wawancara. Tahap perancangan yaitu membuat sketsa dengan elemen-elemen yang sesuai dengan tema jamu tradisonal. Tahap perwujudan yaitu hasil penelitian berupa 2 desain motif batik kontemporer dibuat secara digital dan hasil akhir dimockup kebaju kemeja

Visual Exploration of Traditional Jamu Motifs in the Development of Contemporary Batik Design.
Jamu (traditional Indonesian herbal medicine) represents a locally embedded cultural heritage that warrants systematic preservation. The practice of formulating herbal remedies has been transmitted across generations, with ingredients sourced from natural materials readily available in the surrounding environment. In addition to their use as culinary components, these materials possess a range of health-related functions, including treating various ailments, stimulating appetite, supporting immune function, and maintaining overall physical well-being. Despite this, public knowledge regarding the raw materials of herbal medicine and their associated benefits remains limited, and many people are still unable to distinguish among the different herbal ingredients employed. In response to this issue, the present study proposes the visualization of herbal ingredients in the form of contemporary batik motifs. Beyond enriching the repertoire of existing batik designs, this approach aims to introduce herbal ingredients and their benefits to the broader public, particularly younger generations, through the medium of batik. This research employs a craft-creation methodology consisting of three phases: exploration, design, and implementation. The exploration phase includes data collection through observation, literature review, and interviews. The design phase encompasses the development of sketches incorporating visual elements aligned with the theme of traditional herbal medicine. The implementation phase yields two contemporary batik motif designs, produced digitally and presented as mock-ups on a shirt.
