Nefropati diabetik, yang ditandai dengan peningkatan urea, kreatinin, dan kerusakan histologis ginjal, dapat menjadi sekuela diabetes melitus, suatu penyakit metabolik kronis. Flavonoid dan alkaloid yang ditemukan dalam daun ketapang (Terminalia catappa L.) dan jambu merah (Psidium guajava L.) dapat bertindak sebagai nefroprotektor dan antioksidan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana kombinasi ekstrak etanol dari kedua daun tersebut memengaruhi kadar urea, kreatinin, dan histologi ginjal pada tikus Wistar jantan yang telah diberi aloksan. Tiga puluh tikus dibagi menjadi enam kelompok untuk percobaan laboratorium ini menggunakan desain kelompok kontrol pra-uji dan pasca-uji. Uji Wilcoxon dan Shapiro-Wilk dengan p < 0,05 digunakan untuk analisis. Penurunan kadar urea dan kreatinin yang paling signifikan terlihat ketika ekstrak daun jambu merah (100 mg/kgBW) dan daun ketapang (40 mg/kgBW) (K4) dikombinasikan, menurut data (p = 0,043). Namun, analisis histopatologi tidak menunjukkan peningkatan yang berarti pada morfologi ginjal. The Effect of Giving a Combination of Ethanol Extract of Red Guava Leaves (Psidium Guajava L.) and Ketapang Leaves (Terminalia Catappa L.) on Urea, Creatinine, and Kidney Histology Levels in Male Wistar Rats Induced with Alloxan
Abstract
Diabetic nephropathy, which is characterized by elevated urea, creatinine, and renal histological damage, can be a sequelae of diabetes mellitus, a chronic metabolic illness. Flavonoids and alkaloids found in the leaves of ketapang (Terminalia catappa L.) and red guava (Psidium guajava L.) may act as nephroprotectors and antioxidants. The purpose of this study is to ascertain how a combination of the two leaves' ethanol extracts affects the levels of urea, creatinine, and renal histology in male Wistar rats that have been given alloxan. Thirty rats were split up into six groups for this lab experiment using a pretest-posttest control group design. The Wilcoxon and Shapiro-Wilk tests with p < 0.05 were used for analysis. The largest significant decrease in urea and creatinine levels was seen when red guava leaf extract (100 mg/kgBW) and ketapang leaf (40 mg/kgBW) (K4) were combined, according to the data (p = 0.043). Histopathological analysis, however, did not show any appreciable improvement in the kidneys' morphology. Red guava and ketapang leaf ethanol extracts were shown to have the ability to enhance kidney function biochemically, particularly at low dosages, although they did not significantly alter renal histology.
