Development of a Statistical Physics E-Modul Based on Flip PDF Professional Assisted by MATLAB: Validity Testing and Student Perceptions
Abstract
The development of learning technology demands innovative teaching materials capable of overcoming students’ difficulties in understanding abstract concepts, particularly in the Statistical Physics course. This study developed a Statistical Physics e-module based on Flip PDF Professional assisted by MATLAB, while also examining its validity and students’ perceptions. The research applied a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4D development model, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. The research subjects consisted of material experts, media experts, and 20 fifth-semester students of the Physics Education Study Program at Universitas Jambi selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments included material expert validation questionnaires, media expert validation questionnaires, and student perception questionnaires, all of which were designed based on assessment indicators and declared feasible for use. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and quantitatively through average score and percentage calculations. The results showed that the second-stage material expert validation reached 100% (very valid), the second-stage media expert validation reached 98.43% (very valid), and student perceptions reached 88.98% (very good category). Therefore, the developed e-module is valid, practical, and effective, and it can assist students in understanding abstract concepts through interactive features and MATLAB-based visualization.
