Quality Management of Mahad Aly Based on the Majelis Masyayikh Assessment in Ensuring Graduate Sustainability (a Case Study at Mahad Aly Hasyim Asy’ari Tebuireng Jombang)
Abstract
The quality of education in Ma’had Aly institutions faces challenges in maintaining graduate relevance amid evolving societal needs and labor market demands. Although the Majelis Masyayikh Assessment has become an important instrument for quality assurance in Ma’had Aly, empirical studies explaining how assessment outcomes are translated into quality management practices and contribute to graduate sustainability remain limited. This study aims to analyze the implementation of quality management based on the Majelis Masyayikh Assessment in ensuring graduate sustainability at Ma’had Aly Hasyim Asy’ari Tebuireng Jombang. The research employed a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving the Director of Ma’had Aly, the Dewan Masyayikh, the Pesantren Development Team, the Quality Assurance Unit, lecturers, and institutional quality documents. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that quality management is implemented through the integration of quality assurance, quality control, and management review within the PPEPP cycle (Determination, Implementation, Evaluation, Control, and Improvement). The quality system is strengthened through the Majelis Masyayikh Assessment, internal quality audits, graduate competency evaluations, tracer studies, and alumni network development. The implementation of this quality management system contributes to graduate sustainability, as reflected in graduates’ continuation of higher studies, participation in professional careers, and contributions to socio-religious activities within society. These findings indicate that the quality of Ma’had Aly is reflected not only in achieving the Mumtaz accreditation status but also in its ability to produce adaptive, competent, and sustainable graduates.
