This study was motivated by the importance of integrating local culture into mathematics learning through an ethnomathematics approach. The architecture of Istana Dalam Loka, as a cultural heritage of the Samawa community, contains various mathematical elements that can be utilized as contextual learning resources. This study aimed to explore the mathematical concepts embedded in the architecture of Istana Dalam Loka and examine their relevance to mathematics learning. The study employed a qualitative approach using an ethnographic method. The research subjects consisted of the managers of Istana Dalam Loka, cultural figures, and local community members who understood the history and architectural structure of the palace. The subjects were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and their validity was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the architecture of Istana Dalam Loka contains various mathematical concepts, including geometry, plane figures, solid figures, lines and angles, symmetry, patterns and regularity, measurement, comparison, and number concepts. These concepts were identified in the roof structure, supporting pillars, stairs, doors, wall panels, ornaments, and the Sultan’s throne. The findings also indicated that the Samawa community had indirectly applied mathematical principles in constructing traditional architecture that embodies philosophical, aesthetic, social, and spiritual values. Therefore, the architecture of Istana Dalam Loka can be used as a contextual and meaningful ethnomathematics-based learning resource while also supporting the preservation of local culture.
