Design and Development of a Web-Based Student Administration Service Information System Using the Waterfall Method (Case Study: SDN Dana Bura, Ambalawi District)

Abstract

The development of information technology has encouraged educational institutions to shift from manual administrative systems to digital-based systems in order to improve service effectiveness and efficiency. SDN Dana Bura, located in Ambalawi District, still manages student administration manually, resulting in frequent data duplication, recording errors, and delays in generating letters and reports. This study aims to design and develop a web-based Student Administration Service Information System using the Waterfall method. The development stages include requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. The system was developed using PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript programming languages, with MySQL as the database management system. The main features of the system include student data management, student transfer management, automatic generation of administrative letters, reporting, and school profile management. Testing results using the Black Box Testing method indicate that all system functions operate according to the specified requirements. In addition, usability testing using the System Usability Scale (SUS) method involving eight respondents resulted in a score of 78, which falls into the “Good” category. These results indicate that the developed system is feasible for implementation and is capable of improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy of student administration services at SDN Dana Bura, Ambalawi District.
