Effects of Triangle and Diamond Passing Drills on School Futsal Players’ Passing Accuracy
Abstract
Passing accuracy is a fundamental skill in futsal because it determines ball possession, attacking flow, and team cooperation. The research problem addressed in this study was the low passing accuracy of male futsal players at SMAN 1 Bayan, indicated by errors in passing direction, ball control, body orientation, and follow-through movement after passing. This study aimed to examine the effects of triangle passing and diamond passing drills on passing accuracy and to compare the effectiveness of the two training methods. A quantitative approach with a two-group pretest–posttest design was used. The sample consisted of 12 male futsal players selected through purposive sampling and divided into two groups using ordinal pairing. Group A received triangle passing training, while Group B received diamond passing training for 12 sessions. The research instrument was a passing accuracy test consisting of 10 passing attempts toward a target. The results showed that the triangle passing group improved its mean score from 4.67 to 6.67, representing a 42.82% increase, while the diamond passing group improved from 4.83 to 6.00, representing a 24.22% increase. Paired sample t-test results showed that both training methods significantly improved passing accuracy. However, the gain score comparison indicated that the difference between groups was not statistically significant. In conclusion, both training methods effectively improved passing accuracy, although triangle passing showed a greater practical improvement tendency.
