The Effect of a Problem-Based Learning Model Assisted by Pop-Up Book Media on Students’ Learning Outcomes at the C4 Cognitive Level in IPAS Learning Among Grade V Students at SD Negeri 3 Padang Sambian, Denpasar
Abstract
The low learning outcomes of students in analytical skills (C4) in IPAS learning are one of the problems identified among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 3 Padang Sambian. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Pop-Up Book media on students’ learning outcomes at the C4 cognitive level in IPAS learning. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 46 students, comprising 23 students from class VA as the experimental group and 23 students from class VB as the control group. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling with a saturated sampling technique. The research instrument was an objective multiple-choice test consisting of 40 items, from which 20 items were found to be valid through item validity testing and subsequently used as the research instrument, with a KR-20 reliability coefficient of 0.728, categorized as high reliability. The data were analyzed using normality testing, homogeneity testing, and an Independent Samples t-test on the posttest scores of the experimental and control groups. The results showed that the mean score of the control group increased from 57.83 on the pretest to 62.39 on the posttest, while the mean score of the experimental group increased from 60.22 to 79.78. The results of the Independent Samples t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that H₀ was rejected and H₁ was accepted. The conclusion of this study is that the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Pop-Up Book media produced a significant difference in C4 learning outcomes between the experimental and control groups in IPAS learning among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 3 Padang Sambian.
