Evaluation of the Digital Based Accounting Information System on the Performance of the Petty Cash Administrator at PT ABC
Abstract
Digital Accounting Information Systems (AIS) play a significant role in supporting petty cash management, particularly in food and beverage companies with high transaction volumes that require accuracy, timeliness, and efficient financial administration. Despite the benefits offered by digital systems, technical issues may still disrupt operational activities. Previous studies have primarily focused on the advantages of accounting information systems, while limited attention has been given to evaluating the alignment between system capabilities and the job requirements of petty cash administrator, and evaluate the system using the Task-Technology Fit (TTF) framework. This research employed a qualitative case study approach involving three key informants: an accounting supervisor, a petty cash administrator, an IT staff member. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, the analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model with source and technique triangulation to ensure data credibility. The findings indicate that the accounting information system adequately supports transaction recording, verification, and reporting processes in accordance with the administrator’s job requirements. However, server interruptions occurred approximately two to three times per week, lasting 15-30 minutes, which increased task completion time from 1-2 hours under normal conditions to 3-4 hours during system disruptions. Based on the TTF evaluation, the system demonstrates a satisfactory level of alignment with the operational requirements of petty cash management. Nevertheless, improvements in system reliability and IT infrastructure are necessary to ensure more consistent support for users’ performance.
