Transformational Innovation of BNCare in Sustainable Local Economic Development through a Competitive Moringa Skincare Industry Ecosystem in Tepas Village
Abstract
This study aims to analyze BNCare’s innovation ecosystem in integrating the local potential of moringa (Moringa oleifera) from Tepas Village with a contract manufacturing system, identify place-based product association and cross-channel marketing strategies, and examine the relationship between BNCare ecosystem development and economic literacy and community empowerment. The study employed an exploratory sequential mixed-methods design. Qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews with 20 informants, participatory observation, and documentation, while quantitative data were obtained from questionnaires administered to 100 active consumers using accidental sampling. Qualitative data were analyzed using an interactive analysis model, whereas quantitative data were examined using simple linear regression with HC3 Robust Standard Errors. The findings show that BNCare applies an asset-light business model through contract manufacturing, utilizes the Dasawisma PKK women’s network, develops product-place association with Tepas Village, and employs cross-channel marketing. Regression analysis indicates a positive and significant relationship between BNCare Ecosystem Development and Economic Literacy and Community Empowerment (Y = 4.4183 + 2.1972X; R² = 87.38%; t-test statistic = 12.9589; p < 0.05). These findings indicate that the integration of local resources, manufacturing partnerships, social capital, and digital technology is positively associated with economic strengthening among the groups studied.
