The Relationship Between Students' Learning Motivation and Physical Education Learning Outcomes at SDN 2 Bangkal
Abstract
Learning motivation is an internal factor related to students’ engagement in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning. Previous studies have reported a relationship between learning motivation and learning outcomes; however, empirical evidence among elementary school students in the context of PJOK learning at SDN 2 Bangkal remains limited. This study aimed to determine the relationship between learning motivation and PJOK learning outcomes among students at SDN 2 Bangkal. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 28 fourth- and fifth-grade students selected using purposive sampling. Learning motivation data were collected through an expert-validated Likert-scale questionnaire, while PJOK learning outcome data were obtained from students’ final PJOK scores documented by the school. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis. The results showed that learning motivation was categorized as high, with a mean score of 83.68, while PJOK learning outcomes were categorized as good, with a mean score of 83.86. Pearson correlation analysis showed a positive and significant relationship between learning motivation and PJOK learning outcomes (r = 0.680; p < 0.001). The coefficient of determination (R²) of 46.24% indicates that 46.24% of the variation in PJOK learning outcomes was statistically associated with learning motivation. These findings indicate that higher learning motivation was associated with better PJOK learning outcomes.
