Analysis of Students’ Learning Difficulties in Solving Exponential Equations at SMA Negeri 1 Kota Tambolaka
Abstract
This study aims to identify and analyze the learning difficulties experienced by students in solving exponential equations at SMA Negeri 1 Kota Tambolaka. The research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The subjects of the study are Grade X students of SMA Negeri 1 Kota Tambolaka, selected through purposive sampling based on high, medium, and low achievement categories. Data are collected through observation, tests, interviews, and documentation. The data are analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The study focuses on identifying four types of learning difficulties encountered by students, namely conceptual difficulties, procedural difficulties, technical difficulties, and difficulties in interpreting problems. The findings are expected to provide a comprehensive description of students' learning difficulties in solving exponential equations and the factors contributing to these difficulties. The results of this study are expected to serve as a reference for teachers in designing more effective learning strategies to improve students' understanding of exponential equations.
