This study aims to determine the proportion of productive and non-productive work activities and identify the factors causing non-productive time among employees in the Loading Section of PT Nippisun Indonesia. The study employed a quantitative approach using the Work Sampling method through direct observation of 7 employees consisting of 1 leader and 6 operators. All members of the population were used as the sample, and each respondent was observed 10 times over three days, resulting in a total of 70 observations. The research instrument was a Work Sampling observation sheet. The data were analyzed descriptively by calculating the proportions of productive and non-productive activities and identifying the factors causing idle time. The results showed 48 productive observations (68.57%) and 22 non-productive observations (31.43%). Thus, overall work-time utilization was categorized as productive and satisfactory because the proportion of productive activities exceeded 50%. Non-productive activities included personal activities, waiting for raw materials, waiting for loading instructions, area cleaning, tumbler cleaning, and machine downtime. These findings indicate the need for improvements in material coordination, preventive maintenance, cleaning efficiency, and work-discipline supervision.
