The Implementation of Rhythmic Movement Using the TikTok Application to Improve the Active Participation of Class VIII A Students in Physical Education Learning
Abstract
Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) learning, particularly rhythmic movement, still faces the problem of low student active participation due to conventional and less varied learning methods. This study aimed to determine the improvement in the active participation of Class VIII A students through the implementation of rhythmic movement using the TikTok application in PJOK learning at SMP Negeri 9 Banjarbaru. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The subjects were 31 students selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using an active participation observation sheet consisting of 16 items covering affective, cognitive, and psychomotor aspects. The instrument was adapted from a previously validated and reliable instrument and adjusted through expert judgment, with reliability assessed using Cronbach’s Alpha and a coefficient criterion of >0.60. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, homogeneity test, and Paired Sample t-test. The results showed an increase in the mean active participation score from 26.68 in the pretest to 57.19 in the posttest. Improvements were also observed in the affective aspect from 1.65 to 3.63, cognitive aspect from 1.66 to 3.63, and psychomotor aspect from 1.70 to 3.41. The Paired Sample t-test showed a Sig. (2-tailed) value of <0.001, indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. The implementation of rhythmic movement using TikTok can serve as an alternative learning medium to increase students’ active participation in PJOK learning.
