Studi Isotermal Proses Biosorption Emas Menggunakan Kitosan dari Cangkang Kepiting

Kesetimbangan isotermal serapan emas oleh kitosan telah dipelajari melalui eksperimen. Kitosan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini merupakan biopolymer yang dihasilkan dari cangkang kepiting. Kitosan telah diaplikasikan dalam berbagai bidang seperti pertanian, biomedical, farmasi, kosmetik, lingkungan, industri makanan, industri kertas, dan tekstil. Pada penelitian ini kitosan diaplikasikan sebagai filter penyerap Au. Hal ini dilakukan karena kitosan memiliki kemampuan yang baik menyerap ion logam di dalam larutan. Ada beberapa parameter yang menentukan kapasitas serapan kitosan yaitu : derajat deasetilasi, berat molekul, ukuran partikel, dan kristanilitas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji biosorption Au oleh kitosan yang diproduksi dari cangkang kepiting lokal NTB pada skala laboratorium. Isotermal kesetimbangan serapan pada penelitian ini dikaji menggunakan model kesetimbangan isothermal Langmuir, Freundlich, dan Temkin dengan variasi jumlah konsentrasi awal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan model isothermal Freundlich dan Temkin paling dominan untuk menggambarkan proses biosorption ion Au oleh kitosan local NTB. Proses biosorption yang terjadi merupakan proses multilayer pada permukaan heterogen dan proses fisika.
