Psychological barriers in the form of low self-confidence and limited interpersonal communication are experienced by some students at SMAN 17 Luwu, as reflected in passive behavior and a tendency to avoid social interaction during the learning process. This study aimed to examine changes in students' self-confidence and interpersonal communication skills after participating in group counseling services using role-playing techniques. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 10 students selected through purposive sampling based on criteria of low to moderate self-confidence and interpersonal communication skills requiring improvement. Data were collected using questionnaires developed based on Albert Bandura's theory of self-confidence and Joseph A. DeVito's theory of interpersonal communication. The research instruments were tested for validity and reliability before being used for data collection. The results showed that the mean self-confidence score increased from 53.60 in the pre-test to 73.60 in the post-test, with a significance value of 0.007 (p < 0.05). Meanwhile, the mean interpersonal communication score increased from 51.00 to 65.20 with a significance value of 0.005 (p < 0.05). These findings indicate an increase in students' self-confidence and interpersonal communication scores after participating in role-playing-based group counseling services. However, since the study employed a design without a control group and involved a limited sample size, the findings should be interpreted cautiously. Future studies are recommended to involve control groups and larger samples to provide stronger evidence regarding the influence of role-playing techniques on both variables.
