Peserta didik yang tinggal di panti asuhan cenderung memiliki tantangan emosional dan sosial yang lebih besar dibandingkan teman-temannya . Kepercayaan diri sangat penting agar mereka dapat mengenal potensi dirinya. Melalui konseling perorangan, peserta didik diberikan ruang yang aman suportif untuk mengeksplorasi diri, mengelola emosi, dan membentuk keyakinan akan kemampuannya sendiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang model konseling perorangan yang efektif dalam meningkatkan kepercayaan diri peserta didik yang tinggal di panti asuhan. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kepercayaan diri peserta didik yang tinggal di panti asuhan akibat berbagai tantangan psikososial, seperti kehilangan figur orang tua dan keterbatasan dalam interaksi sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan Research and Development (R&D) merupakan suatu metode penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan produk sekaligus menguji keefektifan produk tersebut dalam mencapai tujuan yang diharapkan.
Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peserta didikyang tinggal di panti asuhan umumnya memiliki tingkatkepercayaan diri yang masih rendah. Hal ini terlihat darikurangnya keberanian dalam mengemukakan pendapat, rasa ragu untuk mencoba hal baru, serta kecenderungan menutupdiri dari lingkungan sekitar. Kondisi tersebut dapatdipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, seperti pengalaman masa lalu, keterbatasan dukungan emosional, dan perasaanberbeda dengan teman sebaya di luar panti asuhan.Penelitian merancang model konseling perorangan yang bertujuan membantu peserta didik mengenali kemampuandiri, serta dapat berinteraksi dengan lingkungan sosial.
Students living in orphanages tend to face greater emotional and social challenges compared to their peers. Self-confidence is crucial for them to recognize their own potential. The background of this study is the low self-confidence of students living in orphanages due to various psychosocial challenges, such as the loss of parental figures and limitations in social interactions. This study aims to develop an individual counseling model to enhance the self-confidence of students at SMA N 1 Sawahlunto living in orphanages. The research uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach by adapting the Borg & Gall (1983) model, which originally consists of ten stages, modified into six main stages: needs analysis, model planning, model draft development, expert validation, limited trial, and final model revision.
The counseling model developed integrates the Client-Centered Counseling approach (Rogers) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (Ellis), which emphasizes the balance between self-acceptance and the restructuring of negative thoughts. The main components of this model include three stages of counseling: (1) building relationships and a sense of safety, (2) self-exploration and cognitive-emotional interventions, and (3) evaluation and self-empowerment. Indicators of the model's success include increased self-confidence among students, the ability to socially adapt, and the emergence of a positive self-view. The research results indicate that the implementation of this counseling model effectively helps students living in orphanages develop self-confidence through guidance and counseling
