Community Assistance for Halal MSMEs in the Culinary Sector: A Case Study in Tembeng Putik Village, Wanasaba District, East Lombok
Abstract
The enhancement of understanding and application of halal standards in MSME products is crucial to meet the growing market demand, especially in the culinary sector. With the increasing consumer awareness of halal products, MSME actors in Desa Tembeng Putik face challenges in meeting these standards. Therefore, this community service program was carried out with the aim of helping MSME actors understand and implement halal principles, as well as obtain halal certification in accordance with applicable regulations. The program involved socialization, training, and technical assistance regarding the process of applying for NIB, halal certification, and the implementation of halal principles in production. The evaluation results showed that MSME actors are now more confident and understand the halal certification process, as well as recognize its benefits in expanding the market and increasing consumer trust. However, the main challenge faced is maintaining the consistency of halal product quality post-certification, which requires continuous assistance. Training on halal product innovation and marketing also proved effective in increasing product competitiveness. Overall, this program has had a positive impact on MSME empowerment and can encourage local economic growth with better halal standards.
