 Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance financial literacy among young people, specifically members of Seka Teruna Teruni Banjar Bhuana Merta in Tegal Harum Village, Denpasar City, as a preventive measure against the rising prevalence of online gambling and illegal digital lending practices. The program was implemented using a participatory approach, encompassing stages of preparation, socialization, training, and evaluation. The educational content focused on personal financial management and awareness of risks associated with illegal digital economic practices. Quantitative evaluation revealed a significant improvement in participants’ financial literacy, as evidenced by an average score increase from 60 (pre-test) to 75 (post-test). Individual score improvements ranged from +3 to +36 points, with 85% of participants showing gains exceeding 15 points—indicating the effectiveness of the educational interventions. Additionally, the program included the distribution of supporting items such as waste bins and organizational uniforms to ensure sustainability. Beyond educational outcomes, the program also reinforced the role of local youth organizations as agents of change within their communities. Thus, this initiative not only improved financial literacy but also fostered collective awareness among youth regarding the dangers of illegal economic activities while strengthening the institutional capacity of Seka Teruna Teruni as a community-based financial education leader.
