Punching Pad Training to Improve the Frequency and Accuracy of Inner Circular Kicks in Tarung Derajat
Abstract
Tarung Derajat athletes at Satlat Lingkar Muslim West Lombok still experience difficulties performing inner circular kicks quickly, stably, and accurately. This study aimed to determine improvements in kick frequency and accuracy after punching pad training. A one-group pretest-posttest design was used. The sample consisted of 15 athletes selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments were a kick frequency test and an inner circular kick accuracy test. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality testing, and paired-sample t-tests. The results showed that kick frequency increased from 12.53 to 17.67, or by 41.02%. Kick accuracy increased from 14.80 to 21.73, or by 46.82%. The paired-sample t-test showed significant improvements in both frequency and accuracy, with p < 0.001. The study concludes that punching pad training is associated with improved kick frequency and accuracy.
