Physical Education Teachers’ Strategies to Address Facility Limitations in Elementary Schools
Abstract
Limited facilities and infrastructure remain a challenge in physical education learning in elementary schools in Sayang-Sayang Subdistrict. This study aimed to describe physical education teachers’ strategies for addressing facility limitations in five elementary schools. A descriptive qualitative approach was used. The informants were five physical education teachers from SDN 7 Cakranegara, SDN 27 Cakranegara, SDN 47 Cakranegara, SDN 52 Cakranegara, and MI Haqul Yaqin NW. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed different facility conditions across schools, ranging from wide schoolyards with limited equipment to severe limitations in both equipment and field access. Teachers addressed these constraints through equipment modification, small games, group division, turn-taking systems, and facility proposals. The study concludes that teacher creativity is important but cannot replace the responsibility to provide proper facilities.
