Setiap tahun, sekitar 15 juta bayi lahir prematur, dengan lebih dari 60% kasus terjadi di Afrika dan Asia Selatan. Indonesia menempati peringkat kelima dengan jumlah bayi prematur tertinggi di dunia. Kesehatan mulut yang buruk pada ibu hamil dikaitkan dengan kelahiran prematur dan berat badan lahir rendah. Menyikat gigi merupakan tindakan preventif terhadap penyakit gigi dan mulut. Di Kelurahan Padangsambian Denpasar, terdapat 21 Posyandu, namun belum ada pelatihan kader terkait kesehatan gigi ibu hamil. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kapasitas kader dalam pencegahan radang gusi pada ibu hamil. Pelatihan dilakukan melalui ceramah, diskusi, demonstrasi, dan simulasi. Hasilnya, terjadi peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan dan keterampilan kader dalam menyuluh serta memeriksa kebersihan gigi. Evaluasi menunjukkan kader telah melakukan penyuluhan kepada ibu hamil. Disarankan pelatihan serupa dilakukan di daerah lain untuk meningkatkan kesehatan gigi ibu hamil.
Capacity Building of Posyandu Cadres to Prevent Gingivitis in Pregnant Women in Padangsambian Village, Denpasar in 2024
Every year it is estimated that 15 million babies are born prematurely and >60% of premature babies Each year, approximately 15 million babies are born prematurely, with over 60% of cases occurring in Africa and South Asia. Indonesia ranks fifth in the world for the highest number of preterm births. Poor oral health in pregnant women has been linked to preterm birth and low birth weight. Brushing teeth is a preventive measure against oral diseases. In Padangsambian Village, Denpasar, there are 21 Posyandu, but no training has been conducted for cadres on pregnant women's oral health. This community service aims to enhance Posyandu cadres' capacity in preventing gingivitis in pregnant women. Training methods include lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and simulations. Results show a significant increase in participants' knowledge and skills in providing counseling and basic oral hygiene assessments. Evaluations confirm that cadres have conducted counseling for pregnant women. It is recommended that similar training be implemented in other areas to improve pregnant women's oral health.
