Speeding Up Processing Time of Moving Wrecked Vehicle by Using Four Wheel SST in workshop AI-DSO Pluit
Abstract
This study was conducted at the AI-DSO Pluit workshop to address efficiency issues in the process of moving severely damaged vehicles. Based on observations and discussions with technicians, it was found that the average time required to relocate a wrecked vehicle reached 30 minutes and 17 seconds, exceeding the targeted duration of 20 minutes. The core problem was the absence of a specialized handling tool, resulting in reliance on outdated floor jacks and the need for up to eight personnel. This not only reduced productivity but also increased the risk of workplace injuries. As a solution, a specialized tool called the SST Four Wheel was developed, tailored to the dimensions of Daihatsu vehicles. The implementation was accompanied by the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training sessions for technicians. Evaluation results indicated a significant improvement: the average relocation time decreased to 6 minutes and 51 seconds, and the manpower required was reduced to only two personnel. Beyond time and cost efficiency, the use of the SST Four Wheel also enhanced workplace safety and technician morale. This research offers practical contributions to improving workshop operational efficiency and underscores the importance of technical innovation in supporting lean manufacturing principles and ergonomic practices. Further development is recommended, including the integration of automation features and more systematic parking area arrangements.
