Application Design Thinking UI/UX Student Mental Health Consultation Application
Abstract
Mental health conditions in Indonesia, especially among university students, show a worrying increase in psychological issues such as stress, anxiety, and depression. This problem is often exacerbated by a lack of awareness about the importance of mental health and limited access to adequate counseling services. In response to these problems, this study has the primary objective of designing a web-based psychological counseling application specifically for students of the Information Systems Study Program at Universitas Malikussaleh. The approach used in this design is Design Thinking, a user-centered and iterative methodology. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative method, where the Design Thinking process is implemented through five essential stages: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. In the Empathize stage, an online pre-survey was conducted with 50 respondents, and the quantitative data obtained showed that 96% of respondents had experienced or sometimes experienced difficulty concentrating. Furthermore, in the Test stage, the prototype was tested using Usability Testing, as well as ISO 9126 and Nielsen Heuristics evaluations. The evaluation results showed that the Usability aspect was in the good to very good category, with an average value above 3.5 on a Likert scale.Through these stages, it is hoped that a functional and intuitive application prototype can be produced, designed to be an effective initial solution to help students manage and overcome their mental health problems. This application is expected to increase students' awareness of the importance of maintaining mental health, as well as facilitate their access to professional consultation services in a more practical and efficient manner. Thus, it is hoped that the quality of life and academic performance of students can increase significantly.
