Pelatihan Pembuatan Silase Tebon Jagung dan Rumput Gajah Sebagai Pakan Ternak Kambing Desa Teladan

Peternak kambing di Desa Teladan didominasi oleh sistem peternakan tradisional dengan kepemilikan ternak berkisar 1-5 ekor per peternak. Meskipun memiliki pengalaman dan motivasi tinggi dalam manajemen pemeliharaan, pemberian pakan, dan pemasaran, adopsi teknologi pengolahan pakan masih terbatas. Potensi limbah pertanian berupa tebon jagung dan rumput gajah tersedia melimpah di wilayah tersebut, namun belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal karena keterbatasan teknologi preservasi pakan.Teknologi silase merupakan solusi strategis untuk meningkatkan daya simpan dan kualitas nutrisi pakan ternak.Karena belum banyak program pelatihan di tingkat desa yang berfokus pada kombinasi silase dua jenis hijauan, seperti tebon jagung dan rumput gajah, sehingga programpengabdian pada masyarakat(PkM) ini memiliki potensi besar untuk meningkatkan kemampuan peternak dalam mengolah pakan ternak. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan mengembangkan kapasitas peternak dalam penguasaan teknologi silase tebon jagung dan rumput gajah melalui pendekatan komprehensif meliputi sosialisasi, pelatihan praktis, pendampingan intensif, serta monitoring dan evaluasi berkelanjutan.Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada aspek pengetahuan peternak (31,5%), minat penerapan teknologi (13,71%), dan keterampilan teknis (44%). Analisis tersebut mengindikasikan bahwa program pelatihan silase memberikan dampak positif terhadap pengembangan kompetensi peternak dalam manajemen pakan ternak.Kesimpulannya, implementasi program pelatihan teknologi silase tebon jagung dan rumput gajah terbukti efektif meningkatkan kapabilitas praktis peternak kambing dalam pengolahan pakan alternatif berkualitas. Program ini berkontribusi pada pengembangan sistem peternakan berkelanjutan melalui optimalisasi pemanfaatan sumber daya lokal.
Training on Making Corn Stover and Elephant Grass Silage as Feed for Goats in Exemplary Villages
Abstract
Goat farmers in Teladan Village are dominated by traditional farming systems with livestock ownership ranging from 1-5 heads per farmer. Despite having high experience and motivation in husbandry management, feeding, and marketing, the adoption of feed processing technology is still limited. The potential for agricultural waste in the form of corn stover and elephant grass is abundant in the region, but has not been optimally utilized due to limitations in feed preservation technology. Silage technology is a strategic solution to improve the shelf life and nutritional quality of animal feed. Because there have not been many training programs at the village level that focus on the combination of silage of two types of forage, such as corn stover and elephant grass, so this community service program has great potential to improve the ability of farmers to process animal feed. This community service program aims to develop the capacity of farmers in mastering corn and elephant grass silage technology through a comprehensive approach including socialization, practical training, intensive assistance, and continuous monitoring and evaluation.The evaluation results showed a significant increase in the aspects of farmer knowledge (31.5%), interest in applying technology (13.71%), and technical skills (44%). The analysis indicated that the silage training program had a positive impact on developing farmers' competencies in animal feed management.In conclusion, the implementation of the corn stover and elephant grass silage technology training program proved effective in improving the practical capabilities of goat farmers in processing quality alternative feed. This program contributes to the development of a sustainable livestock system through optimizing the utilization of local resources.
