Digital Fundraising Strategy Training for Mosque Administrators: Implementation of Participatory Action Research at FORSIMMA Bekasi
Abstract
This community service program aims to enhance the capacity of FORSIMMA Bekasi mosque administrators in implementing digital fundraising strategies to strengthen sustainable mosque financing. The background of this activity lies in the low level of digital literacy and limited technical skills among mosque administrators in managing social media and digital donation systems, despite the growing trend of digital philanthropy in religious financial management. The training was designed using a descriptive-participatory method based on a community-based training approach, consisting of needs assessment, material preparation, theoretical and practical sessions, post-test evaluation, and follow-up actions. The questionnaire instrument was developed using indicators from Digital Philanthropy and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), and validated by two experts prior to its use. The one-day training was conducted under the coordination of FORSIMMA Bekasi at Masjid Al-Kahfi Bunut, Bekasi, involving 13 participants from various mosques and prayer rooms. The analysis indicates that participants expressed positive perceptions regarding the relevance and usefulness of the material, particularly in the use of social media and digital payment systems for fundraising. Nevertheless, variations in understanding were found between younger and older participants, along with challenges such as limited access to digital devices and resistance from congregants toward electronic donation methods. The post-test data reflects an increase in participant perceptions, although it cannot confirm actual competency improvement due to the absence of a pre-test. Overall, this program contributes to improving digital literacy and the initial readiness for implementing digital fundraising in mosque environments, while also generating a replicable training model for the development of technology-based Islamic community economic empowerment.
