Communication Strategy of the PPKBPPPA Office of Garut Regency Through the Gerakan Ayah Teladan Indonesia (GATI) Education Program for Stunting Prevention
Stunting is a public health problem influenced by nutrition, parenting practices, socioeconomic conditions, and family involvement in childcare. One increasingly important aspect of stunting prevention is fathers’ involvement in caregiving, family decision-making, nutritional support, and access to health services. This study aims to analyze the communication strategy of the PPKBPPPA Office of Garut Regency in implementing the Gerakan Ayah Teladan Indonesia (GATI) Education Program, particularly in terms of audience understanding, message formulation, method selection, and media selection and utilization. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, literature study, and documentation. The data were analyzed through data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that the communication strategy of the GATI Program was implemented by identifying the target audience, including fathers with young children, fathers with adolescents, prospective brides and grooms, and adolescent boys as future fathers. Communication messages focused on the importance of fathers’ roles in childcare, family resilience, and stunting prevention. The communication methods included educational, persuasive, and participatory approaches through socialization, counseling, discussion, and mentoring activities. The media used included face-to-face communication and digital platforms such as WhatsApp and Instagram. This study concludes that the GATI Program communication strategy contributes to strengthening the delivery of messages regarding fathers’ involvement in family life as part of stunting prevention efforts
