Abstract

Penelitian ini meneliti pengaruh minat dan kepercayaan diri siswa kelas VII terhadap partisipasi dalam pembelajaran renang di SMP Negeri 16 Mataram. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengukur tingkat minat dan kepercayaan diri siswa serta memahami dampaknya terhadap keterlibatan mereka dalam kegiatan renang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan total sampling pada 141 siswa. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa 79% siswa memiliki minat yang tinggi terhadap renang dan 79% juga menunjukkan kepercayaan diri yang baik, dengan skor rata-rata kepercayaan diri 105,01. Dukungan dari guru dan lingkungan sosial terbukti penting dalam meningkatkan motivasi siswa. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa minat dan kepercayaan diri saling berperan dalam mendorong partisipasi aktif siswa. Rekomendasi yang diajukan mencakup peningkatan frekuensi pembelajaran renang dan pemberian dukungan finansial untuk memfasilitasi akses kolam renang, sehingga dapat meningkatkan keterampilan dan prestasi siswa di bidang renang.

The Influence of Interest and Self-Confidence of Junior High School Students in Physical Education Swimming Lessons

Abstract

This study examines the influence of interest and self-confidence of Grade VII students on their participation in swimming lessons at SMP Negeri 16 Mataram. The study aims to measure students' levels of interest and self-confidence and understand their impact on engagement in swimming activities. A quantitative descriptive method was employed with total sampling of 141 students. Results indicated that 79% of students displayed high interest in swimming, and 79% also showed good self-confidence, with an average confidence score of 105.01. Support from teachers and the social environment proved essential in boosting student motivation. The study concludes that interest and self-confidence play interrelated roles in fostering active student participation. Recommendations include increasing the frequency of swimming lessons and providing financial support to facilitate pool access, thereby enhancing students' skills and achievements in swimming.
